Analogous Structures

Structures of different species ("-ous") abounding in similar functions, but ("an-") lacking in the same evolutionary origin.

Dogs and cats are perfect examples of analogous structures as they both have the same build (4 paws, a tail, 2 ears, etc.), however, they do not originate from the same evolutionary origin. Dogs originate from wolves, where cats originate from a lion. However, since their similar structures perform similar functions, they are prime examples of analogous structures.
